Abu Simbel

The most famous of the rescued Temples of Lake Nasser are those at Abu Simbel.  They were built by Ramases the Great on the edge of his Empire, to imprint his might and power upon all those entering Egypt through this southern border. The superb statues of Ramases dominate his Temple, and are perhaps one of Egypt's most defining images. View at dawn to get an inspiring sight!
