Steam Ship Sudan, Nile Cruiser

If you are seeking a truly unique cruising experience then the charismatic Steam Ship Sudan fits the bill perfectly. Built in 1885 as a gift for King Fauod, it is now sensitively restored and filled with genuine 19th C. furnishings, recreating a lifestyle of elegance and opulence. The Royal family would feel quite at home amidst the delightful surroundings! It’s a unique experience to savour the history and culture of Egypt whilst cruising on such a beautiful boat - itself a page in history!

If you pause you may see the shadow of the illustrious Hercule Poirot, using his ‘little grey cells’, slip by, as he solves his next murder mystery:. The marvellous Agatha Christies film, ‘Death on the Nile’ with the superb actor Peter Ustinov in the lead role, was filmed aboard the SS Sudan –renamed’ SS Karnak for the shoot.

Cabins: A mere 19 well furnished suites and 4 presidential suites all have en suite facilities, balcony, a/c, interphone, mini bar, TV/Video and on-board- radio. The essence of the cabins is relaxation with their cool soothing décor.

Cusine: Dine in Belle Époque elegance in the dining room, from the daily changing menu based on Eastern and Western flavours. The restaurant echoes the grace of the age with gloriously polished woodwork and refined furnishings.

Leisure: On the decks, the passageways are furnished with cane furniture and lined with green plants, while the upper deck has been transformed into a large terrace with deck chairs and arm chairs – ideal for relaxing in as you drift down the Nile.

The Panorama bars overlook water and paddle wheels.
